e-hygiene systems ltd and the environment

e-hygiene’s product range - cleaning products and materials, disposables and janitorial - has a high profile in today's environmentally conscious world. In any food related business, standards cannot be compromised, but this does not mean that environmental considerations do not apply.

e-hygiene has made great progress in improving environmental performance. This is reflected in our internal procedures, in our products and packaging and in the way we go about our daily business. However, our customers’ standards are very exacting and environmental advances must be made without compromising them.

This report states e-hygiene’s environmental policy and commitments and describes how e-hygiene is approaching the problems and the advances made in their industry.

Environmental Policy

Environmental responsibility is a primary and integral part of the business decision making process. e-hygiene realises this responsibility through:

Maintaining environmental standards of practice and procedures in all parts of its business which incorporate both local regulations and recognised environmental standards.

Regularly communicating with employees, customers, the public and the EHO on the environmental aspects of the Company's operation and products.

Environmental Commitment

Supply of eco friendly products such as enzyme cleaning products, biodegradable disposables and recycled/biodegradable paper products.

Continual minimisation of phosphate chemicals used in cleaning and disinfection.

Reduction of associated packaging through a development programme for product concentration and automatic dispensing and control.

Innovative packaging design using biodegradable or reusable packaging, buckets etc.

Environmental Responsibility & Impact

e-hygiene makes environmental responsibility an early and integral part of the business decision-making process and continually improves its understanding of the environmental impact of existing and planned products.

e-hygiene’s new procurement system came into force in 2008 with all major suppliers being required to provide information on, among other areas, environmental performance and expectations.

We are actively promoting enzyme products which improve waste water quality by actively breaking down waste products, e.g grease.

e-hygiene use state of the art dosing equipment to achieve minimal chemical usage, and through development of concentrates. All e-hygiene’s representatives are capable of helping customers to push the concept of minimisation further within their own operations as part of the e-hygiene service.

The success of e-hygiene’s room service and kitchen hygiene concentrates dispensed through the work station is now significantly reducing packaging waste.

Environmental Standards

e-hygiene maintain environmental standards of practice and procedures in all parts of its business which incorporate both local regulations and recognised environmental standards.

e-hygiene has applied for ISO 9000 and expects to gain certification by end 2008
